Youth Empowerment Camps
Facilitating safe experiences and peer connection.
We facilitate a number of diverse weekend experiences that empower young people to make their own choices and ‘talk out loud’ about the things that matter most to them.
We run three separate camp programs catering to specific groups, with the aim of creating a safe space for discussion of the distinct topics relevant to each group.
Our camp programs are outlined below, please contact us with any questions or to find out more.
OUR CAMP PROGRAMS
Camp Tembo
For 10-13 year old girls.
Why camp TEMBO? The name Tembo is Swahili for elephant and holds a very special meaning for us. We chose this name because this important species reflects the values of our organisation and our new camp specifically for young girls aged 10-13 years. As highly altruistic animals, elephants are extremely social creatures with incredible self-awareness and enormous capacity for empathy.
Places are limited to just 12 girls so they can experience the sessions without distraction. Sessions will include African drumming, orienteering, journalling, resilience building activities with Bianca & Kritz from The Big Sister Experience and a very special Teepee high tea party!
Get in TouchCamp Bunji
For 14-17 year old youth.
Bunji is Aboriginal for ‘mate’ which comes from the Warlpiri and other languages of the Northern Territory and northern Queensland.
This camp program is all about connecting and engaging young people within a natural environment in the Adelaide Hills.
Get in TouchCamp Kaizen
For young adults 18+.
Kaizen reflects the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement, which is exactly what we should all be striving for, don’t you think? Activities include West African Drumming, Yoga, Meditation, Nature walks, Individual Massages, Dungeons & Dragons, Olympics-themed obstacle course and special guest speakers on the topic of emotional wellbeing & resilience.
